Shehba- Members Kongra Star issued a press statement in Shehba city to protest Turkey’s attempts to change the demographic structure of Afrin and the ongoing rights violations in the city. The representatives of many women's organizations also supported Kongra Star. Women carried the flags of the Kongra Star and pictures showing how the demographic structure of Afrin has been changed. Tell Rifaat City Council Co-Chair Leyla Osman made a speech on behalf of women.
“We call on our people to be sensitive”
Pointing out the ongoing clashes in Syria, Leyla Osman said, “We defend Syrian's territorial integrity. The existence of Turkey presents a danger in the region by support to radical Islamist organizations. As women from Afrin, we will never accept the practices carried out by the Turkish state in this region. Turkey forces citizens living in this region to be slaves. The structure of Afrin has been changed. We call on all our people and public opinion to be sensitive and protest this situation. We should raise the level of our struggle.”
They condemn countries supporting Turkey
Kongra Star Diplomatic Relations Committee Spokesperson Sozan Mustafa called on international powers to be sensitive against what has been going on in Afrin, “People have to live in camps or tents instead of living in their houses. Doesn’t this show how the demographic structure has been changed? We condemn the ongoing invasion of Turkey and we also condemn all countries supporting these attempts.”
