Women organizations in NE Syria to come together for IWD

Women’s organizations in North and East Syria will have a meeting to discuss the program for the International Women’s Day.

Qamishlo- The Joint Action Platform of North and East Syria was formed by women’s organizations to organize activities and protests together. Speaking about the activities of the platform, Jiyan Hisên, coordinating member of the Women's Council of North and East Syria, said, “We decided to form a platform of all women’s organizations in North and East Syria during the council’s general meeting on December 16, 2021. After forming the platform, we held the first meeting of the platform in February 2022.”

 ‘The platform unites all women under an umbrella’

Noting that the aim of the platform is to unite all women and women’s organizations under an umbrella, Jiyan Hisên said, “Women say no to gender-based violence under the umbrella of the platform. One of the purposes of the platform is to unite all women in Syria and in the Middle East. In North and East Syria, 19 women’s organizations are members of the platform. The Women’s Council of North and East Syria took the initiative in forming the platform. The other founders of the platform are Kongra Star, Zenûbiya Women's Community, Women's Coordination in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Syrian Women's Union, Women's Office of the Democratic Party, Women’s Office of Future Syria Party, Women’s Office of the Syrian Democratic Council,  Syrian Free Women's Foundation, Women’s Office of the Democratic Islamic Congress and Women's Rights Advocacy and Research Center.

They will work more

Emphasizing that the Joint Action Platform has united all women’s movements and organizations in North and East Syria, Jiyan Hisên said, “The platform strengthens women’s organizations to act together. As members of the platform, we have meetings to decide on joint action plans. We will work more to promote the platform all around the world.”

 Women will have a meeting for the International Women’s Day

 Women’s movements and organizations in North and East Syria will hold many activities, meetings and panels to mark the International Women’s Day, annually celebrated on March 8. “We will have a meeting to discuss the program for the International Women’s Day. We will keep struggling to obtain our rights and to build a free and democratic life.”
