Hasakah- Women are at the frontline of all resistances against the ongoing attacks on North and East Syria. For instance, the women living in the Zirgan district of North and East Syrian Hasakah Canton have been waging a great resistance against the ongoing Turkish attacks on their homeland.

“The institutions are targeted”

Delal Mehmûd, member of the Kongra Star in Zirgan, resists by supporting all women in the district. Speaking about the resistance of women and ongoing Turkish attacks, she said, “Turkey has been attacking North and East Syria while the people of Zirgan have been waging a great resistance against these attacks. In addition, all social and service institutions open their doors to the people in order to support them. These institutions are targeted in the attacks because the aim of the attacks is to break the will of the people.”

“Women are at the frontline of the resistance”

Emphasizing that the women of Zirgan are at the frontline of the resistance, Delal Mehmûd said that Bêrîtan (s) (women fighters) protect Zirgan. “They should not think they can break the will of women by attacking them. We will follow the footsteps of the heroic women, who sacrificed their lives for this cause, and we will not leave their struggle uncompleted. The women and mothers keep Zirgan on its feet. Our people must show that they will resist all attacks by believing in their own strength and will. Here is our homeland and we will use all our available means to protect it.”

“We are ready to fight alongside the fighters”

Selwa Hec Mihemed, one of the mothers of Zirgan, condemns the ongoing Turkish attacks. “We did not attack the occupying Turkish state that aims to occupy our lands. Why do the Turkish forces do in our region? What do they want from us? If they want to resurrect the Ottoman Empire in our region, we will never accept this. They claim that they target the fighters but they lie. The Turkish state kills civilians, children and women. As they intensify their attack, we resist more. We are ready to fight alongside the fighters.”

“The invaders have no space in our region”

Pointing out that she will resist until she dies, Selwa Hec Mihemed said, “Everyone should know very well that we will never leave our homeland. We, as mothers, get strength from our fighters. Everyone will die but we want to die with dignity. Erdoğan should not be happy because the invaders have no space in our region. His dream to occupy our region will always remain as a dream.”
