Sulaymaniyah- People continue to hold protests in four parts of Kurdistan and all around the world against the military operation launched by Turkey in the Kurdistan Region on April 17 with the support of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). Women are on the front lines of the protest not only in Kurdistan but also all around the world. In Sulaymaniyah, women take to the streets every day to make their voices heard. NuJINHA spoke to several protesters about Turkish attacks supported by the KDP.

“The KDP continues to betray”

Zuhre Kerim, a mother of the guerrilla, emphasized the betrayal of the KDP and said, “The KDP has paved the way for the Turkish state to divide the people of Southern Kurdistan. The KDP continues to betray its people. It sells our values, natural gas, and lands. We support our just cause and the Kurdish people. I ask everyone to support the guerrillas and the Kurdish people. Sect leaders should make speeches in mosques to raise awareness against the occupation. These attacks are not only against the guerrillas but also against the Kurdish people. The occupying Turkish state wants to resurrect the Ottoman caliphate. KDP officials went to Turkey and held meetings with them (Turkey). It thinks that Turkey is its friend but it isn’t.”

“Young people should take to the streets”

Herêz Ehmed called on young people to take to the streets wherever they are. “We must frustrate the plans of those who want to occupy Kurdistan. The KDP and the occupying Turkish state claim that the PKK is against the Kurds but this is not true. The guerrillas have fought in the mountains for us, to defend our lands. The Turkish state wants to annihilate us by attacking us. We hope the Turkish government to lose in a short time and withdraw from our lands.”

“We will protect our region”

Fatma Sileman, a member of the Kongra Star Coordination in Afrin Region, began to speak by condemning the Turkish attacks in the region. She called on women to participate in protests being held all around the world and said, “We will always take to the streets for four parts of Kurdistan. We will stand against the occupation. We will resist, struggle and fight against the enemy. We will strengthen our resistance and follow the path of Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan). We will resist until we liberate our territory.”
