Women of Qamishlo Step to the Frontlines in Defense of the Women’s Revolution
At a moment, women in Qamishlo held a solidarity vigil supporting the march by Women Defending Rojava, reaffirming resistance and defense of the Women’s Revolution.
Qamishlo — The women of Qamishlo emphasized that protecting the achievements of Rojava is a collective responsibility, and that the voice of women will remain present in all arenas, from community organization to fields of struggle and resistance.
Amid escalating political and military attacks targeting the Rojava project and the Women’s Revolution, women from the city of Qamishlo and its surrounding areas organized a solidarity vigil on Saturday, January 31, to renew their pledge to protect the gains of the revolution and to affirm that women’s will shall remain a strong barrier against attempts at exclusion and the breaking of peoples’ will.
The vigil, organized by Kongra Star, carried a clear message to the world: the Rojava Revolution is first and foremost a women’s revolution before being a geographical one, and the voice of women will continue to resonate in all fields in defense of the land and human dignity.
Participants stressed that the Rojava Revolution was not merely a political or administrative transformation, but rather an intellectual and social revolution that placed women in a leading position and firmly established their role as a fundamental force in building a free and democratic society.
They affirmed that the systematic targeting of the region is, at its core, a direct attack on women’s will and an attempt to abort an experience that has proven that the liberation of society begins with the liberation of women. In her speech, Reyhan Luqo, spokesperson for Kongra Star, emphasized that women will continue to defend the achievements of the revolution, stating that the ongoing attacks aim to undermine the foundations of the Democratic Nation project and sow discord among societal components, but that women’s awareness and organization will prevent this.
During the vigil, slogans were raised emphasizing women’s unity, strengthening the spirit of solidarity among women in different regions, and adherence to legitimate resistance in the face of policies of exclusion and domination.
The participants also reiterated that protecting the achievements of Rojava is a collective responsibility, and that the voice of women will remain present in all arenas—from community organization to fields of struggle and resistance.
The vigil concluded by affirming that women’s struggle in Rojava will continue despite all challenges, and that attempts to break their will or marginalize their role are destined to fail in the face of women’s awareness and organization. The participants renewed their pledge to continue defending the Women’s Revolution and the Rojava project as a model of liberation and social justice.
