Manbij- The national uprising that started in Iran following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini has been going on since September 2022. Since November, hundreds of schoolgirls have been poisoned at schools across the country. Most people think the schoolgirls have been poisoned by the Iranian regime due to their roles in the national uprising.

‘Those who are responsible for the poisoning must stand trial’

Teachers and educators in Manbij, a city in North and East Syria, expressed outrage at the poisoning of more than 7000 schoolgirls in Iran and Rojhilat Kurdistan (Kurdistan in Iran). “The schoolgirls are deliberately poisoned because women and students play an important role in the national uprising. The Iranian regime wants to break the struggle and will of women in Iran and Rojhilat Kurdistan by poisoning schoolgirls,” said Abeer al-Barho, Co-chair of the Manbij Education Committee.
Calling on the international community and human rights organizations to investigate the poisoning of schoolgirls in Iran, Abeer al-Barho said, “Those who are responsible for the poisoning of schoolgirls must stand trial.”

‘Girls should not give up their right to education’

“As teachers in Manbij, we condemn all forms of inhuman practices against students and teachers. We condemn the poisoning of schoolgirls in Iran. Women and girls should not give up their right to education and they should struggle until their demands are met. A comprehensive investigation should be launched into the poisoning of schoolgirls in Iran and Rojhilat,” said Amina Al-Murad, a school manager in Manbij.

‘Poisoning students is a crime against humanity’

“Poisoning students is a crime against humanity,” Huda Jamal, a school manager in Manbij, said, “The Iranian government must fulfill its responsibilities and urgently disclose the facts about the poisoning incidents across the country. The women in the country must continue to demand freedom.”
A teacher in Manbij, Xitam Ulo demanded that the causes of poisoning incidents in Iran must be announced. “The aim is to deprive girls of education. Families should encourage their children and make them aware of the importance of education. Education is very important for everyone, especially for women. An educated woman can fight all forms of violence.”
