Women of Kobanî: We will defend our land to the end

“This war is the war of existence and nonexistence for us. We will stand firm against the attacks,” women of Kobanî say that will resist the Turkish attacks to the end.

Kobanî- Turkey continues to attack, violate human rights, and shell Kurdistan and it intensifies its attacks every day while the citizens continue to show their anger against these attacks. The city of Kobanî was subjected to many attacks in April and Turkey attacked the city by using seven howitzers on April 22. The women living in the city react to the attacks and emphasize that they will never bow to the attacks.

“We will not leave the city”

Emphasizing the importance of the unity of the Kurds, Fatma Xelil said, “The attacks against NE Syria were planned by many powers; however, it is the Turkish state that implements this plan. Turkey keeps attacking the regions where ISIS was defeated. It aims to strengthen its own existence by annihilating us. But the Turkish state can only dream of it. We don’t get angry with the international community for what we are facing now. We are angry at the Kurds who support them. If we don’t unite, we will be killed one by one.” Fatma Xelil also noted that no one can defeat their forces and said, “We will not leave Kobanî.”

“Women will stand firm against the attacks”

Speaking about the resistance against ISIS in Kobanî, Helim Osman said, “The Turkish state has been intensifying its attacks to annihilate the Kurds and destroy their achievements. But it will not achieve its goal. We fought against the tanks and artillery of ISIS and the Turkish state in Kobanî and we defeated them. We, as women, played our role in fighting against ISIS in Kobanî and we will play our role in defending our land. We will not allow the Turkish state to carry out its plan. We continue to follow the ideology of Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) and stand with our children.”

Young people will stand against attacks

Emphasizing that civilians have been targeted in the Turkish attacks, Silava Hemi said, “The Turkish state wants to destroy the stability and security of the region and break the will of the people. It wants to forcibly displace people again. This process is a sensitive process for us. This war is the war of existence and nonexistence for us. We, as young people, will lead our society and stand firm against the attacks.”
