“We are being killed and abducted while all states are just watching instead of taking a step to stop Turkey,” said the women of Kobanî’s Qumchî village under the attacks of Turkey.

Kobanî – On July 30, Turkey attacked two civilian vehicles on the road to the Qumchî village located south of Kobanî. No one fortunately injured in the vehicles but the attack caused financial damages. Turkey previously attacked civilians living in the Northern and Eastern Syria region. Turkey carried out massacres in the El-Pelure, Memîtê, and Helince villages and targeted the members of the Kongreya Star. We spoke to Cihan Derwiş, co-chair of the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) in the Euphrates Region, Sara Qewas Mislim, co-chair of the Human Rights Association in the Euphrates Region about Turkish attacks on NE Syria.
“Turkey carried out attacks before”
TEV-DEM Co-chair Cihan Derwiş condemned the Turkish attacks on the NE Syria, “Tukey carried out attacks before by using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).” Cihan Derwiş recalled the attacks on the El-Pelurê, where Abdullah Öcalan stayed for a while, and Memîtê village of Kobanî and the murder of three pioneer women, “Turkey’s attacks are immoral and unlawful. The Turkish state targets villages in Kobanî while civilians are safe in their homes. As the people of Kobanî, we think that these attacks are carried out with the partnership of the Turkish state and Russia.”
“People should be aware”
Emphasizing that the aim of Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan is to destroy the security of the region and to force the people to leave their lands, Cihan Derwiş said, “Turkish state is constantly attacking Ayn Issa, Shehba and Manbij. It also attacks the villages of Kobanî with unmanned aerial vehicles. The Turkish state has targeted civilians five times in this way. As the people of the region, we should be aware that the Turkish state wants to cause chaos in the region and to start a psychological war among the people. We should end the fascist policy of the Turkish state.”
“We are not soldiers but civilians”
Sara Qewas Mislim, co-chair of the Human Rights Association in the Euphrates Region also spoke to NuJINHA about Turkish attacks on the region. “As the people of the Middle East, we have been the target of the sovereigns since the day we were born. We are being killed and abducted while all states are just watching instead of taking a step to stop Turkey. Those who say ‘I am A Kurd’ or use ‘Kurd’ while talking are killed by sovereign states. For instead, the members of a family were killed in Konya (Seven members of a Kurdish family were killed in a racist attack in Konya province of Turkey). We can say that the Turkish state is a racist and inhuman state. We are not soldiers but civilians, these attacks should be stopped.”
