Halabja - Reacting to the use of chemical weapons in the Kurdistan Region by Turkey, the women of Halabja condemn the silence of the authorities in the Kurdistan Region. Lawyer Çirû Şivanî stated that chemical weapons have been used in the region again after 34 years. “In the past, no reports were prepared about the use of chemical weapons. But now we are in the 21st century, the international community still remains silent although all chemical weapons used by the Turkish state have been documented.”

“We should unite”

Underlining that the Kurdish people should not accept this silence, Çirû Şivanî said, “The unity of the Kurdish people can break this international silence. Today, we should unite even though we have different ideologies. If we do not unite, Turkey and Iran will carry out attacks not only in the mountains but also in cities.”

“We should stand firm against dirty plans”

A member of the Peace Mothers in the Kurdistan Region, Fatma Hemîd also condemned the use of chemical weapons in the Kurdistan Region by Turkey. “The enemies unite when Kurds come in question. For this reason, I am calling on all Kurdish political parties; the enemy openly attacks the Kurds, you should be ashamed of not uniting. The authorities in the Kurdistan Region should not allow the use of chemical weapons. I call on all mothers to stand firm against the attacks aiming to invade our region. We, as mothers, are friends of nature, we planted trees and we did not allow the enemy to cut down our trees. Cutting down trees means taking the breath of the Kurds away. The use of chemical weapons affects nature and the future of our children. I want to tell the international community that the Kurds will stand firm against all dirty plans and keep fighting these plans.”
