Women in Sulaymaniyah: Stop the invasion

Women in Sulaymaniyah issued a press statement to condemn the Turkish government’s military operation launched in South Kurdistan on April 24 and they called on the international powers to stop the invasion.

Sulaymaniyah- Kurdish Free Organization (RJAK) and women representatives of many NGOs issued a press statement to condemn Turkish military operation launched in South Kurdistan on April 24.

Women gathered at Azadi Park in Sulaymaniyah to issue the statement. The statement was read by Banu Halepçe on behalf of women. “Turkish state launched a large-scale operation in the Behdinan and Zap, Avashin and Metina regions. Turkey invades Southern Kurdistan and Iraqi territories by attacking these regions. As women in Iraq and South Kurdistan, we condemn the attacks. We call on those who keep silent to break their silence and we call on the international powers to stop the invasion.

Banu Halepçe underlined that April 24 is a meaning for them and people of the regions, “April 24 is the anniversary of Armenian Genocide, the purpose of these attacks against Kurdish people and their territories are obvious.”

The statement ended after women demanded the release of journalists and activists, who have kept under detention by security forces of Sulaymaniyah.
