Women in Rojava ready for women’s day

Women’s organizations in NE Syria have announced their program for International Women’s Day. This year’s activities and events will be dedicated to Leyla Agirî, Seda Feysel El-Hermes, who were killed by ISIS, and resisting women.
Qamîshlo- Women’s organizations in NE Syria gathered at Okuma Park in Qamîshlo and issued their activities to be organized for International Women’s Day, March 8.
Kongra Star, NE Syria Women’s Assembly, Autonomous Administration Women's Coordination, Syrian Women’s Assembly, Democratic Union Party’s Women's Council, Syriac Women’s Unit, Women's Bureau of Future Syria Party, Women’s Office of Democratic Society Congress, Women's Bureau of Syrian Democratic Council, Hilala Zerîn Movement, and women representatives of NGOs participated in the press statement. Kongra Star member Berîvan Yunis read the statement.
“As NE Syrian women’s organizations, we will take to the streets on the basis of the rising resistance of the world's women against male domination, violence, and cruelty,” said Berîvan Yunis.
Women will organize their activities and even under the motto, “Our Struggle is the Guarantee of the Women's Revolution”. This year’s activities and events will be dedicated to killed women; Zehra Berkel, Hebun Mele Xelîl, Amina Weysî, Leyla Agirî, Seda Feysel El-Hermes, Hind Letif El-Xidir and Til Rifat.
Schedule of events and activities to be organized between February 23 and March 8 are as follows;
·         Between February 23 and February 28, Kongra Star will organize seminars on International Women’s Day in villages, towns, districts and cities of NE Syria Women will drive in all cartons to raise awareness of public.
·         On March 1, PYD Women’s Council, Kongra Star and Hasekê Canton Assembly will organize a demonstration to remember Seda Feysel El-Hermes and Hind Letif El-Xidir, who were killed by ISIS.
·         Between March 1 and March 2, a Women’s Festival will be held in Qamishlo.
·         On March 2, a mass march will be held by the women's security forces to support the women's defense forces.
·         On March 3, seminars and cultural events will be organized for disabled women.
·         On March 5, mass marches will be held in Kobanê, Qamishlo and Shehba to break isolation.
·         On March 6, an event will be organized at Newroz Square for International Women’s Day with the participation of 10,000 women.
·         On March 8, the Young Women’s Assembly will organize seminars in all schools, including high schools and universities.  Kêvana Zerîn Cultural Movement will organize documentary film and film screenings, bike races, folk dancing competitions, traditional dress exhibitions. And women will visit refugee camps.
·         Women will wear traditional clothes in March.
