Amed- Female members of the Human Rights Association (IHD), the Rosa Women’s Association, the Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (HRFT), the Lawyers Association for Freedom (ÖHD) and many other NGOs distributed leaflets in the Sur district of Amed (Diyarbakır) province to mark the Human Rights Week, annually observed from December 10 to 17. Women distributed leaflets reading, “Women’s rights are human rights”, “We know our rights and defend them”, “What can you do when you are subjected to violence?” to women, shopkeepers and people passing by.

The distributed leaflets contained information about what women can do when they are subjected to violence. Women were informed that they could apply to the Rosa Women's Association, İHD or call the Domestic Violence Emergency Helpline, the police and gendarmerie. The women were also informed about the measures that can be taken within the scope of Law No. 6284 and said that they could get legal support from the Women's Rights Center of the Amed Bar Association.
