‘We will not accept the policy of Turkification’

Reacting to the Turkish attacks, women of Afrin and Shahba say that they will not accept the policy of Turkification and protect the system based on democracy in North and East Syria.

Shahba- The Turkish state keeps carrying out attacks on North and East Syria. The people in the region have been resisting the attacks for six years. NuJINHA spoke to women of Afrin and Shahba about the ongoing attacks. Reacting to the ongoing attacks, the women think the aim of the attacks is to destroy the system based on democracy.

‘I condemn the silence’

        

In an interview with NuJINHA, Lamia Abbas said the aim of the Turkish attacks is to depopulate the region. “There is solidarity and unity among the people of Syria. The Turkish state aims to destroy this solidarity and unity. The Turkish attacks kill civilians and destroy houses in villages. I condemn the silence of the international community and human rights organizations against the crimes and violations committed by the Turkish state in the region,” Lamia Abbas said.

‘The attacks aim to break the will of women’

        

Emel Muhammed is a displaced woman of Afrin, who lives in Shahba now. Emphasizing that the Turkish state has been attacking the cities, towns and villages for a long time, she said, “Civilians are targeted by the attacks. The pioneers of the revolution; political and military figures, are targeted. The aim of the Turkish state is to destroy our system based on democracy by targeting women pioneers of the revolution and to break the strong will of women, who are the main pillar of the revolution.”

‘We will not give up on our struggle’

        

Commenting on the revolution in Rojava, Fayruz Omar said, “The revolution in North and East Syria achieved many successes and gains thanks to the sacrifice of tens of thousands of people from different nationalities and beliefs in Syria. What is valuable cannot be given up. We will follow in the footsteps of our martyrs. We will not give up on our struggle. We will struggle until we achieve victory across Syria.”

‘We will not surrender to Turkish occupation’

        

Recalling the 58-day resistance of the people of Afrin against Turkish attacks, Melek Alluş said, “The people of Afrin showed a historic resistance against the Turkish attacks for 58 days before being forcibly displaced from their homeland. The people of Afrin, who had to leave their homeland due to the attacks, have been living in Shahba for five years. However, the Turkish state has carried out its attacks by targeting the displaced people of Afrin living in Shahba and the people of Shahba. We will not accept the policy of Turkification. We will resist until our lands are liberated and realize the system based on democracy in the region.”
