Kobanê- Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan sent a message to the Jineology (Jineoloji) Academy from the island prison of Imrali on May 30, 2025, saying that when he was first brought to Imrali Island, he said, ‘My women's work is an unfinished project’ but his unfinished project has also progressed with Jineology.

“With this theory and concept, I wanted to define the women's problem correctly. As Buddha said; ‘You cannot do anything without removing the dagger from the back of society.’ Yes, society has many problems, but the dagger in the back is female slavery, and you cannot solve any problem without removing this dagger. Jineoloji has made significant progress towards this goal. A valuable labor has been spent. Now this labor should gain more meaning with the new process. The correct definition of women's existence and women's identity and existence must be handled with the method of identity.”

NuJINHA spoke to the members of the Jineology Research Center in the Euphrates Canton of North and East Syria about the message of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.

‘Jineology is the science of women and life’

Înar Teyfû, Spokesperson of the center, began to talk by defining Jineology. Recalling that Jineology was first mentioned in the “Sociology of Freedom” book (2018) by Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, Înar Teyfû said, “Jineology literally means ‘women's science or the science of women’ but it is the science of women, society and freedom. Jineology is a science that re-examines, corrects and clarifies history over women's feelings, views, thoughts and ideas while other sciences ignore women's labor, history, struggle and achievements.”

Înar Teyfû commented on the isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. “Leader Apo was isolated for a long time; there was no information about him. Then, a meeting was held with leader Apo that started a new era. Leader Apo sent a message that includes meaningful and important expressions, to the Jineology Academy. His message made us very happy and proud. As the members of the academy, we regard his message as a perspective.”

‘We have a lot to do’

Înar Teyfû highlighted the important points in the message of Abdullah Öcalan and said, “There are many important points in his message; one of them is that his unfinished project has been completed. Although the women’s revolution has a long history and valuable achievements, we know that there are serious challenges that should be overcome. In his message, he says that female slavery is the dagger in the back of society and we cannot solve any problem without removing this dagger.”

‘We will make Jineology a universal science’

Înar Teyfû told us that they, as women, would continue to struggle to implement the paradigm of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. “We will reach all women to realize the project for women’s freedom, starting from Kurdistan to the Middle East and the world. We will make Jineology a universal science.”

‘We will spread Jineology across Syria’

"Leader Apo’s message opens a new door,” said Nazlî Hisên, a member of the center. “Before his message, we worked on research, analysis and interpretation. The message of leader Apo has opened up my horizon. This message will play a decisive role in expanding our study and strengthening our struggle. We will spread Jineology across Syria.”
