Til Temir- Since Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a jihadist armed group, took control of Aleppo and some parts of Syria, the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions have been carrying out attacks on North and East Syria to invade the region. The members of the Council of Martyrs’ Families in Til Temir, a city in Jazira Canton of North and East Syria, call on everyone to support the Women's Defense Units (YPJ), the People's Defense Units (YPG) and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) against invasion attacks.

‘Our defense forces are not alone’

Following the Syrian crisis, the defense forces and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) kept the situation under control and developed a system based on democracy against sectarianism, said Sena Hemûd, whose spouse lost his life while liberating Rojava.

“Women have led the development of the system based on democracy. The aim of women is to build a free and democratic life. Our defense forces are not alone; we stand with them and protect our region. We know very well the purpose of the intervention of external forces, especially the Turkish state, in our region.”

‘We get strength from the YPJ’

Sena Hemûd also mentioned the effects of the recent attacks on women. “The aim of our struggle is to build a free life. We will always support our fighters because they fight for us and for our lands and they lose their lives for this cause. Today, the YPJ ensures our security and peace. Therefore, we get strength from the YPJ and the YPJ gets strength from us.”

‘People must be in solidarity with each other’

We have gone through a very important process that requires the support and solidarity of the people, said Terfa Fewaz, another member of the council. “The Turkish state is an inhuman state. If we unite, we will overcome this process successfully. We should remember what the people and women of Aleppo, Shahba and Damascus experienced. The Baathist regime left the people unprotected. We must support our defense forces so as not to experience the same scenario.”

‘We should play an active role in new Syria’

Terfa Fawaz thinks that the people of North and East Syria must fight against the genocidal attacks in Syria. As Kurdish people, we should play an active role in new Syria. We must unite and defend our cities in order to protect the gains of the revolution. We must support the YPJ, YPG and SDF.”
