“We didn’t bow to oppression and intimidation,” Şenyaşar family says

“For a year, we didn’t bow to oppression and intimidation in front of the courthouse,” the Şenyaşar family says on the 368th day of their sit-in protest seeking justice.

Riha- The sit-in protest held in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed in the attack carried out on June 14, 2018, in Suruç by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who survived the attack, has entered its 368th day. While Emine Şenyaşar continues to demand justice for her killed relatives at her home in Suruç district due to her health problems, her son Ferit Şenyaşar holds their sit-in protest in front of the Urfa Courthouse.

“A just and honorable life is sacred”

Posting a photo of Erinç Sağkan, president of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TBB) and heads of Bar Association in the region, who visited the family yesterday to support them on their social media account, the Şenyaşar family wrote, “A just and honorable life is sacred. For a year, we didn’t bow to oppression and intimidation in front of the courthouse. Our struggle for justice is the struggle of all honorable people. Those who remain silent in the face of this oppression cannot go out in public.”
