News Center- Afghan women’s rights activist Julia Parsi and Manijeh Sediqi, who have been held in detention by the Taliban for more than two months, were beaten in prison by the Taliban last week, according to the local reports.

Several Afghan women’s rights activists, including Laila Basim and Mina Rafiq, announced on their social media accounts that the two activists were subjected to torture in prison last week but they learned the incident today.

Laila Basim said that the family of Julia Parsi knew of her transfer to the hospital but they did not want this incident to be made public. Mina Rafiq wrote that the mental and physical condition of Julia Parsi is dire due to the torture of the Taliban.

According to the local reports, the mother of Manijeh Sediqi announced that her daughter was transferred to Pol-e Charkhi prison in Kabul. In an audio recording, her mother said that her daughter is in poor health and demanded her daughter’s release.

Julia Parsi, head of the Spontaneous Movement of Afghan Protesting Women, was arrested and taken to an unknown location on September 27, along with her son in the Fathullah Square in Kabul.

Manijeh Sediqi, member of the Spontaneous Movement of Afghan Protesting Women, was arrested by the Taliban on September 24, 2023.
