Halabja - Yesterday, the victims of the Halabja chemical attack came together to discuss the decision made by the Kurdistan Regional Government to reduce the amount of benefits paid to them
Kejal Ehmed, one of the victims, told NuJINHA that the reduction of the benefits is an inhuman practice. “The amount given to the victims is just enough for medicines. If the amount is reduced, the victims will not be able to afford to buy even medicines and we will have to look for new ways to survive.”
“We will take to the streets until we have our rights”
Razaw Meqsûd is another victim of the Halabja chemical attack. “We will take to the streets until we have our rights. We have been bearing many things for 30 years but we cannot bear anymore. Why do they reduce the amount of benefits given to us? Is it necessary? The victims still have to pay for medicines and treatment.
“Look for new ways”
Luqman Abdulqadir, head of the Association of the Victims of Halabja Chemical Attack, issued a statement demanding the government and parliament to look for new ways instead of reducing the amount of benefits given to the victims.
