Amed- Jinnews, an all-women news agency based in Amed (Diyarbakır), has released a report on femicide in Türkiye to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. 316 women were killed by men and 170 others died under suspicious circumstances in the first 10 months of 2024, according to the report.

 98 women were killed by their husbands, 28 women by their ex-husbands, 33 women by their estranged husbands, 11 by their fathers, 18 by their sons, 31 by their partners, 28 by men they knew, 19 by their male relatives, 10 by their ex-partners, two women by foreign men, 12 by unidentified men and the relationship between the three killed women and the perpetrators was not determined, according to the report.

The report also said:

 January

24 women and four children were killed and 17 women and three children died under suspicious circumstances in the first month of 2024, the report said.

In January, seven women were killed by their husbands, two by their ex-husbands, two by their estranged husbands, one by her father, two by their sons, four by their partners, four by men they knew, one by her son-in-law, two by their ex-partners, one by her neighbor and one by an unidentified man.

 February

39 women were killed and 15 others died under suspicious circumstances in the second month of 2024.

Nine women were killed by their ex-husbands, eight by their husbands, six by their partners, six by men they knew, six by their sons, three by their fathers, one by her estranged husband.

March

In March 2024, 24 women and two children were killed and 24 women and two children died under suspicious circumstances.

Eight women were killed by their husbands, three by their ex-husbands, one by her estranged husband, one by a foreign man, two by their partners, one by her father, two by their ex-partners, three by their sons, one by her brother and one by an unidentified man.

April

In April 2024, 30 women and two children were killed and 15 women and a child died under suspicious circumstances.

11 women were killed by their husbands, seven by their estranged husbands, one by her ex-husband, one by her son, one by her brother, three by their partners, one by her nephew, two by men they knew, two by their male friends and one by her uncle.

 

May

34 women and eight children were killed and 18 women and two children died under suspicious circumstances in May 2024.

17 women were killed by their husbands, three by their estranged husbands, two by their ex-husbands, six by men they knew, one by her father, three by their sons, one by her son-in-law, one by her brother and the perpetrators of one woman was not determined and the relationship between the two killed women and the perpetrators was not determined.

June

In June 2024, 37 women and 10 children were killed and seven women and two children died under suspicious circumstances.

16 women were killed by their husband, five by their estranged husbands, three by their ex-husbands, two by their ex-partners, five by unidentified men, one by her son-in-law, two by their fathers, one by her male relative and one by her partner.

July

21 women and four children were killed and 22 women and two children died under suspicious circumstances in July 2024.

One woman was killed by her estranged husband, four by their ex-husbands, one by her partner, one by her brother, one by her ex-partner, one by a foreign man, six by their husbands, one by a man she knew, two by their male relatives.

August

In August 2024, 31 women and five children were killed and 15 women and three children died under suspicious circumstances.

Seven women were killed by their partners, eight by their husbands, one by her grandson, one by her ex-husband, four by their estranged husbands, three by their male relatives, one by her ex-partner, one by her father, four by men they knew and one by her brother.

 September

30 women and one child were killed and 15 women and four children died under suspicious circumstances.

Seven women were killed by their husbands, four by their ex-partners, five by their estranged husbands, two by their fathers, one by her male neighbor, three by unidentified men, four by their partners, one by her ex-husband and one by her male relative.

 October

In October 2024, 43 women and six children were killed and 22 women and four children died under suspicious circumstances.
