Türkiye: 136 women killed by men in first six months of 2025

In Türkiye, 136 women were killed and 145 more died under suspicious circumstances in the first six months of 2025, said a report released by the We Will Stop Femicide Platform.

136 women were killed and 145 more died under suspicious circumstances in the first six months of 2025, the report said.

According to the report, 131 women were killed by men in the first six months of 2021, 164 in the first six months of 2022, 147 in the first six months of 2023 and 205 in the first six months of 2024.

In the first six months of 2025, 96 women were killed by their male relatives, the report said. In the first six months of 2025, “Nine women had a restraining order when they were killed. 65 percent of women were killed at home. 35 percent were killed by their husbands,” Esin İzel Uysal, the representative of the platform, said at a press conference held at the Zübeyde Ana Culture Center in Istanbul on Monday.

According to the report, 78 out of 136 women were shot dead, 36 were killed with sharp objects, 11 were choked to death, six were beaten to death and three were burned to death.
