Turkey: men kill 36 women in March

In March, men killed 36 women; the deaths of at least 24 women were reported in the press as suspicious, according to the news compiled by Bianet from local and national newspapers, news websites, and news agencies.

News Center- Bianet has announced its Male Violence Monitor March 21. According to Bianet, men killed 36 women and the deaths of at least 24 women were reported in the press as suspicious.

According to Bianet, in March, 23 women were killed by their husbands, boyfriends, fiances, or ex-husbands. Men killed 10 women in places outside the house such as on the street or in a car park and 23 women inside the house. The scenes of incidents where men killed three women were not reported in the news. Men killed 20 women with firearms and eight women with sharp objects. Men killed two women by strangling them, one woman by throwing her out of the balcony, one woman by battering her, and one woman by burning her. The method of killing one femicide was not reported in the news. Men killed at least four children. Men raped at least nine women, harassed at least 11 women, and abused at least 25 children.  Men inflicted violence on at least 68 women in March. Last March, this number was 46. In March 2021, at least 66 women were forced into prostitution, 27 of them were not citizens of Turkey.
