Turkey: Men kill 315 women in 2023
In 2023, at least 315 women were killed, 248 more died under suspicious circumstances in Turkey, according to the We Will Stop Femicide Platform.

Since the discussions about the Istanbul Convention began, there has been an increase in femicide and suspicious deaths,” the report said.
65% of women were killed at their homes
In 2023, at least 315 women were killed, 248 more died under suspicious circumstances in Turkey, according to the report. “65% of women were killed at their homes. ‘70% of women were killed for making decisions about their own lives’
The report also said that men killed 31% of the women with sharp objects, 55% of women with firearms.
“The excuse of men for killing 58% of women in 2023 could not be determined. Of 45% of women, 70% of women were killed for making decisions about their own lives. 41% of women were killed by their husbands.”
’28 women were killed despite protection orders’
The report highlighted that femicide would continue in the country as long as the immunity policy was implemented against the killers. “Femicide will continue to increase unless protection orders and restraining orders are effectively implemented. In 2023, 28 women were killed despite protection orders. 28 women were killed because protection orders were not implemented.”
