Turkey: 3 women killed in a day
At least 30 women were killed by men in a month after Turkey withdrew from the Istanbul Convention, say the reports by women’s organizations and political parties. Three women were killed in the last 24 hours.
News Center- Turkey’s Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu has stated that 25 women lost their lives after Turkey withdrew from the Istanbul Convention and claimed that the number of femicides in Turkey decreased by 24 percent. But three women were killed in the last 24 hours in Turkey.
A 65-year-old woman named M.Y. was killed by her son M.A. in the Deniz neighborhood of Mersin’s Mezitli district. Police found the dead body of the woman being killed with a sharp object after the janitor reported that there was a woman’s dead body on the 13th floor. The dead body has been identified as 65-year-old M.Y., who lived with her son. Her son M.A. was arrested after confessing to killing his mother.
A 44-year-old woman named Z.Ö. was found dead in her house located in the Yeni neighborhood of Hakkari’s Yüksekova district. The woman has been claimed to kill herself. An investigation has been opened into the incident.
Filiz G. and Kamil Ç. were killed by her Filiz’s father Nurettin G. in the Çiğiltepe village of Afyonkarahisar’s Sandıklı district. The father called police and confessed to killing two persons.
