Tunisian singer Emel Mathlouthi visits Kurdish women in Amed
Emel Mathlouthi, Tunisian singer-songwriter and musician, visited Kurdish women in Amed on Wednesday before her performance at Newroz celebrations in the city on March 21.
Amed (Diyarbakır)- Emel Mathlouthi, Tunisian singer-songwriter and musician, visited the Women's Association For Culture, Art and Literature (KASED) and the Rosa Women’s Association in Amed on Wednesday.
Emel Mathlouthi told the women of KASED that she went to Hasankeyf in 2013 and learned many things about Kurdish women at that time.
Unity against gender-based attacks
After her visit to KADES, she visited the Rosa Women’s Association. During the visit, Çağlar Demirel, member of the Free Women’s Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA) made a speech on policies against the Kurdish women. In her speech, Çağlar Demirel emphasized the importance of unity against gender-based attacks.
“Thank you for welcoming me so warmly and having good conversations. Maybe we have very limited time and we could not have more conversations but I will stand with you in the field of music and I will do my best,” Emel Mathlouthi told the women of the Rosa Women’s Association.
