News Center- Friends of jailed politician Aysel Tuğluk, who suffers from dementia, have released a joint text to demand the release of Aysel Tuğluk and sick prisoners.

In the text titled “Freedom for Aysel Tuğluk”, her friends underline that Aysel Tuğluk can maintain her life with the help of other prisoners. “Aysel Tuğluk, who has been held in the Kandıra Closed Prison, has suffered from dementia for two years. She can maintain her life only with the help of her friends (in prison). The Forensic Medicine Institute at Kocaeli University issued a report for Kurdish politician Aysel Tuğluk saying "she couldn’t stay in prison”. However, Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institution ruled a political decision and said that “she could stay in prison”. This report causes our friend’s health to get much worse.

“We are Aysel TUĞLUK's friends who were forced to live in exile in Europe as a result of the political operations carried out by the AKP/MHP government against our party HDP to eliminate it from democratic politics. If we had stayed in Turkey, we would have been in prison just like our friend Aysel TUĞLUK, because of injustice practices. As her friends, we demand her immediate release. We have already sent a letter to press outlets, parliamentarians in Europe, human rights organizations, health organizations, CPT, European Parliament, and women's organizations all around the world to be in solidarity with Aysel Tupluk and push the Turkish Ministry of Justice for her treatment outside of the prison. We have made contact with them and arranged meetings with them. We will continue to work until Aysel Tuğluk and other sick prisoners are released from prison.”
