Shengal (Sinjar)- On December 23, 2022, a gun attack was carried out against the Ahmet Kaya Kurdish Cultural Center in Paris. The Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council Member Emine Kara, Mîr Perwer (Mehmet Şirin Aydın) and Abdurrahman Kızıl lost their lives in the gun attack. Since December 23, the Kurdish people have been taking to the streets in European countries, particularly in Paris, and Kurdistan to demand the forces behind the shooter be revealed.

In an interview with NuJINHA, Kamla Emer, member of the Yazidi Free Women's Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Azadiya Jinên Êzîdî-TAJÊ), also called on the French authorities to reveal the dark forces behind the second Paris Massacre. “We condemn this brutal massacre. We commemorate all martyrs in the person of our comrades, who were killed in Paris. The patriarchal mentality targets women everywhere. Today, women are on the frontline of the protests and resistances all around the world. The occupying Turkish state, which does not accept the leading role of women, attacks women everywhere,” she told us.

‘This century will be the century of women's freedom’

Kamla Emer added that they, as women, would always struggle. She said, “They will not be able to prevent women's struggle no matter what they do. We, as women, will stand against all kinds of occupation, isolation and massacre. This century will be the century of women's freedom. For this reason, we say Jin, Jiyan, Azadi. Kurds and their friends are all around the world. They will continue to struggle against isolation and occupation.”

‘They are afraid of our power’

Another member of the TAJÊ, Caklîn Hisên also spoke about the massacre that took place in Paris on December 23. “First of all, we commemorate all our martyrs with mercy and we promise to avenge them. We express our condolences to the families of our friends who were killed in the second Paris Massacre. Today, we see that women are targeted everywhere in the Middle East. They attack us because they are afraid of our power.”

Underlining that they, as Yazidi women, will always struggle, Caklîn Hisên said, “As Yazidi women, we will always stand firm and will not allow the enemy to suppress the slogan Jin, Jiyan, Azadi.”
