Theatre players commemorate “Untold women” victims of honor killing

A silent theatre play named “The Ninth Resurrection” was staged to commemorate female victims of “honor killing” in Sulaymaniyah, where violence against women is on the rise.
Sulaymaniyah- Violence against women has been on the rise in the Sulaymaniyah, a city of the Kurdistan Region in Iraq. Women have been killed under the name of “Honor”, and their bodies have been buried in the cemetery of the nameless in the city, while the perpetrators have gone unpunished.

Many events were held in the city for International Women’s Day. One of these events was a theatre performance for the female victims of honor killing. The theatre performance was organized at Holê Tewar Hall by the Nuger, an organization supporting cultural and artistic works, to commemorate female victims of honor killing in the city. The theater performance was staged by Şano Mahmut Group. The silent theatre performance titled, “The Ninth Resurrection” focused on violence against women, female genital mutilation (FGM), and femicides.
