‘The Syrian government and the AANES must come to the table for the future of Syria’
“The Turkish state uses the Adana Agreement signed in 1998 for its own interests. The Syrian government must come to the table with the AANES for the future of Syria.”
RONÎDA HACÎ
Hasakah-The Turkish state brings forward some old agreements and alliances to legitimize its occupying attacks on North and East Syria. The Adana Agreement concluded between Turkey and Syria in 1998 is one of these agreements.
‘This agreement poses a threat to the future of Syria’
The Adana agreement was a result of mediation efforts by Egypt and Iran, said Mûna Yûsif, board member of the Future Syria Party. “The demands of the Turkish state were accepted and the Adana agreement was made between Turkey and Syria in the city of Adana in 1998. The agreement paves the way for the occupation of Syrian territories. It was an agreement to realize the interests of the occupying Turkish state. Even today, the Turkish state makes plans to occupy the region (North and East Syria). The Turkish state and its alliances have already occupied some areas in Syria due to this agreement. Therefore, we do not recognize this agreement and say that the liberation of the occupied areas is one of the fundamental ways to resolve the Syrian crisis.
‘Women should not allow foreign intervention in Syria’
In her speech, Mûna Yûsif pointed to the role of women in resolution of the Syrian crisis and said, “We call on all women making great efforts to resolve the crisis not to allow foreign intervention in Syria because the liberation of the occupied areas can only resolve this crisis and only the Syrian people can resolve this crisis. The people of Syria have paid high prices for years. The displacement, massacres and attacks continue. Today, every woman’s duty is to educate society and tells that the Adana agreement and the attempt to renew it pose a threat to the future of Syria.”
‘The Turkish state commits crimes against humanity in the occupied areas’
The Turkish state commits crimes against humanity in the occupied areas, such as Afrin, Serêkanîyê (Ras al-Ayn), Al Bab and Azaz, Mûsa Yûsif emphasized, adding:
“In the areas controlled by the Turkish state and Turkish- backed factions, the people are subjected to all forms of violence, killed, arrested and kidnapped. The Turkish state aims to deepen the Syrian crisis by using different excuses and agreements. The reason for the violence and crises in these areas is the Turkish state itself. If the Turkish state wants to solve the Syrian crisis, it must withdraw its forces from Syria so that the Syrian people can have a comfortable and safe life. However, everyone knows that the Turkish state never leaves wherever it enters.”
Call on the Syrian government to fulfil its responsibility
Mûna Yûsif also called on the Syrian government to fulfil its responsibility towards the people of Syria. “We call on the Syrian government not to make an agreement with the Turkish state because the Turkish state is an occupying state. The Syrian government must fulfill its responsibility towards the people of Syria by liberating the occupied areas and preventing the crimes committed against its people. We say once again that the Syrian government must come to the table with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria for the future of Syria.”
