The situation at the UAE Maternity Hospital in Gaza is tragic, pregnant women may die while giving birth, even if they do not die from attacks, bombs, disease, hunger and thirst, reported the UN News Arabic website.
News Center- UN News Arabic website published a news report on the visit of the UN Population Fund team to the UAE-run Al-Helal Emirati Maternity Hospital in Rafah, a Palestinian city in the southern Gaza Strip.
The situation at the UAE-run Al-Helal Emirati Maternity Hospital, one of the last remaining maternity hospitals in Gaza, is tragic and pregnant women may die while giving birth, even if they do not die from attacks, bombs, disease, hunger and thirst, the website emphasized in the news report.
‘Most pregnant women give birth prematurely’
According to the website, most pregnant women give birth prematurely in the 7th and 8th months due to the fear and anxiety they experience, and the situation is difficult for newborn babies to survive in such an environment full of infections and complications and most of them die.
The website also emphasized that the incubators in the hospital were full of children, and that there were 77 newborn babies in the existing 20 incubators, which posed a risk to the lives of the babies.
In the news report, the website noted that most of the babies in the incubators were orphaned because their parents were martyred or missing.
Since October 7, 2023, at least 28,663 Palestinians, including 12, 300 children and 8,400 women have been killed and at least 68,395 Palestinians have been injured in Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip.
