News Center- The number of internally displaced people in Sudan has reached more than 10 million as war drives about a quarter of the population from their homes, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) told The Associated Press on Monday.
“More than 2 million other people have been driven abroad, mostly to neighboring Chad, South Sudan and Egypt,” International Organization for Migration spokesperson Mohammedali Abunajela said.
According to the United Nations, the war that erupted between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan on April 15, 2023 has created the world's largest displacement crisis, leaving more than 16,000 people dead. 25 million people, half of Sudan's population, need humanitarian assistance.
