The 14th Conference of the Ashtar Council Kicks Off in Makhmour
Under the slogan “We will build a democratic and communal society and live freely with the leader,” the 14th Conference of the Ashtar Council was launched at the Martyr Rustem Cudi Refugee Camp (Makhmour), with the participation of 400 delegates.
Makhmour – The Co-chair of the Makhmour Municipality, Fatima Bilan, emphasized in her speech during the conference the importance of continuing the struggle and strengthening the role of women in consolidating a peaceful and democratic society. She affirmed that the attempts of hostile forces to thwart the march launched by leader Abdullah Öcalan will fail in the face of the will and resilience of the participants.
The 14th conference of the Ashtar Council was launched at the Martyr Rustem Cudi Refugee Camp (Makhmour) under the slogan: “We will build a democratic and communal society and live free with the leader,” in the conference hall, with the participation of 400 delegates. The hall was adorned with slogans emphasizing the role of women in leading society, such as: “Women are pioneers in building a free and equal life,” “With socialist women, we build a people’s society,” and “Through women’s struggle toward global leadership.” Photos and posters of the martyrs were also displayed to commemorate their memory and highlight the symbolism of their struggle.
The Co-chair of the Makhmour Municipality, Fatima Bilan, opened the conference with a speech in which she congratulated the participants, saluted leader Abdullah Öcalan and all activists, and stated:
“We hope that this conference will constitute a new step toward intensifying efforts and strengthening the struggle against the genocidal system. Despite the attempts of hostile forces to obstruct the march launched by leader Abdullah Öcalan, with our determination we will thwart all plans. We will make this conference a model to be followed, bear greater responsibilities in our work and struggle, and stand firm in the face of the murderous system. We will further organize our ranks in loyalty to the pioneering women who sacrificed their lives for the women’s cause, and we will continue to fulfill our mission as women in building a peaceful and democratic society.”
Following the opening speech, the conference activities continued with extensive readings of the views and ideas of leader Abdullah Öcalan, reflecting the importance of his guidance in the course of the struggle. The conference is scheduled to continue for two days, during which various discussions and interventions will take place aimed at strengthening the role of women and society in building a free democratic model.
