Ten Dead, Including children, in Pakistani shelling on the Afghan Border

Amid rising tensions between Kabul and Islamabad, Pakistani shelling has killed at least ten people, including children, inside Afghanistan. Additional strikes targeted the provinces of Kunar and Paktika, resulting in further injuries.

News Center — Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have deteriorated since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021, with border disputes escalating last month after deadly clashes that killed more than 70 people on both sides, followed by a fragile ceasefire that was never fully implemented.

The Taliban government announced on Tuesday, November 25, that at least ten people, including children, were killed in airstrikes carried out by Pakistani forces on border areas inside Afghanistan late Monday into Tuesday.

A Taliban spokesperson said the attacks targeted Khost Province, striking a civilian home and killing five men, four girls, and a woman. He added that additional strikes hit Kunar and Paktika provinces, injuring four people.

These developments come amid rising tensions between Kabul and Islamabad, following a suicide bombing that targeted a Pakistani security forces headquarters in Peshawar last week, killing 12 people and injuring dozens. Although no group has claimed responsibility, Pakistani authorities accused “terrorist cells linked to Afghanistan” of being behind the attack.
