Tehran court upholds prison sentence for Rezvaneh Ahmad Khanbeigi

Tehran Province Court of Appeal has upheld prison sentences for Rezvaneh Ahmad Khanbeigi, a civil activist, and her husband, Behfar Lalahzari, a former political prisoner.

News Center- Tehran Province Court of Appeal has upheld prison sentences of Rezvaneh Ahmad Khanbeigi, a civil activist, and her husband, Behfar Lalahzari, a former political prisoner.

Rezvaneh Ahmad Khanbeigi and her husband, Behfar Lalahzari, were arrested on September 19, 2023 at their home in Tehran. After seven days in detention, Behfar Lalahzari was transferred to Evin prison, while Rezvaneh Ahmad Khanbeigi was later transferred to Evin prison after a period of confinement in Qarchak prison.

In December 2023, Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced Rezvaneh Ahmad Khanbeigi and Behfar Lalahzari to four years in prison for each on charges of “gathering and collusion against internal security” and one year on charges of “propaganda against the government”.
