Kabul- Thousands women of Kabul held a march in the streets of Karte Sakhi and Dashte Barchi on September 8 to demand women’s participation in the country’s new government and their guaranteed rights. The women marching from two sides united at the Dehmzang crossroads and wanted to go to the presidential building. However, the Taliban militants stopped them.

On September 7, the Taliban announced the cabinet ministers, included no women.

“We are already in prison”

One of the Taliban militants told a woman, “Islamic law gives women their rights. Why do you want a ministry?” When the women reacted to these words and raised their voices, the militant told them, “No matter how much you resist, we will put you all in prison.” The protesters began to shout together, “We are already in prison.”

Attack left casualties

One day before the protest, the Taliban militants attacked protesters in Kabul and Herat and arrested many men, including journalists. The militants fired on the protesters in Herat. According to received reports, several were killed and wounded.

Afghans also took the streets in Badakhshan, Baghlan, and Parwan cities to protest the attacks of the Taliban.
