Syrian women strive to ensure their presence in new Syria
A group of Syrian women held a meeting in the city of Tartus on Monday to discuss the status of women and exchange ideas about their presence in the new Syria.

News Center- The Syrian Women’s Council organized a meeting with the motto, “Women’s Roles in Rebuilding Syria and Participation in Drafting the Constitution” in Syria’s Tartus city on Monday with the participation of a number of women activists, lawyers, and representatives of civil organizations.
At the meeting, Rihab Ibrahim, a coordinating member of the Syrian Women's Council, made a speech saying, “Since the fall of the Assaf regime, Syria has entered a new chapter. “Women have achieved significant gains in recent times, contributing to maintaining their presence in the new Syria.”
Reem Othman, a human right activist and an official from the Children of Love Association, commented on women’s legal status in Syrian constitutions from 1950 to 2012.
Suhad Ali, a member of the Sendyan Association, also made a speech at the meeting, drawing attention to the challenges faced by women while trying to participate in the future of Syria, highlighting the potential solutions to the challenges.
At the meeting, a documentary film telling the activities of the Syrian Women’s Council was screened. The meeting concluded with sharing opinions and suggestions, and determining an action plan for women’s roles in the new Syria.
