Syrian Women’s Council holds meeting with women in Afrin
The Syrian Women’s Council held a meeting with women in the occupied Afrin about the importance of peace.

News Center- The Syrian Women’s Council held a meeting titled, “Civil Peace” in the city of Afrin, controlled by the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions since 2018. Women members of the non-governmental organizations and human rights activists attended the meeting held on Wednesday to discuss the importance of building internal peace in Syria following the fall of the Baathist regime.
At the meeting, women also discussed the obstacles to peace and how justice and co-existence could resolve the conflict in Syria.
“We have held an important meeting at such a sensitive process,” Berivan Horo, an administrator of the Syrian Women’s Council, said during the meeting. “This meeting is an important meeting in a period when Syria has witnessed developments and processes. This meeting aims to empower women in economy, politics and social life in order to build a democratic Syria. Social peace will also contribute effectively to building a national identity with all ethnic and religious groups in Syria.”
At the meeting, women expressed their thoughts about how to build social peace and strengthen the role of women in society.
