Syrian Women's Council condemns suicide attack on church in Damascus
The Syrian Women’s Council has released a statement, condemning the suicide attack on the Mar Elias Church in the Dweila neighborhood of Damascus on Sunday that killed 22 people.

News Center- The Syrian Women’s Council has released a written statement, condemning the suicide attack on the Mar Elias Church in the Dweila neighborhood of Syria’s capital Damascus on Sunday that killed 22 people and injured 59 others.
“Today, a terrorist attack targeted the Mar Elias Church filled with people praying in the Dweila neighborhood of a city, which begins to take a breath after years of war, destruction and the smell of gunpowder,” the statement said. “Dozens of innocent people were killed while they were praying for their longing for peace, the security and stability of their homeland.
Call on authorities
“As the Syrian Women’s Council, we strongly condemn this crime against humanity. This attack is an attack on humanity and the sanctity of places of worship. We call on the authorities to fulfil their responsibilities in ensuring security and take precautions against ISIS, which aims to resurge by taking advantage of the fragility of the current situation. We must unite and join hands to build a free, safe and peaceful country. Long live a free, safe and peaceful Syria.”
