Syria: 3,278 civilians assassinated, executed since March 2025

At least 3,278 civilians were assassinated and executed from the beginning of March to the end of July 2025, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a UK-based monitoring group, reported on Sunday.

News Center- At least 3,278 civilians have been assassinated and executed since “a new wave of violence escalated in Syria in March 2025,” the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a UK-based monitoring group, reported on Sunday.

“In the past few months a series of murder crimes over sectarian affiliation was documented in provinces of the Syrian coast, mainly Tartus and Latakia, as well as the provinces of Homs and Hama, where hundreds of civilians were extrajudicially executed,” the monitoring group said.

Since the beginning of massacres on the Syrian coast in March, the monitoring group has documented the death of 3,278 civilians, including 98 women and 46 children.

“Ironically, Syrian authorities continue to disclaim their responsibility for the atrocities and violations committed in different areas during that period, especially in the Syrian coast and Al-Suwaidaa, and they seem satisfied with issuing official statements lacking intention to hold perpetrators accountable and achieve justice.”
