Gaza- Citizens of Gaza have a hard time earning a living due to the economic crisis. University students who had to leave their university education due to the economic crisis are waiting for financial support.

Suha Mehmud is one of these students. Her family lives in a rural area of Gaza and makes a living from agriculture. Although going to school for children living in rural areas is difficult, she overcame all difficulties she faced because she loved to go to school. She passed the preparatory school with the highest score but she cannot continue her education due to financial difficulties. “I want to realize my dream and go to university. I overcome all difficulties until now but I will have to stay home if I don't get financial support,” Suha Mahmoud told us.

Students are seen as customers

23-year-old Tasneem El-Qetawi studied at the Faculty of Communication of the University of Palestine but she had to leave her education due to financial problems she has faced. “The universities in Palestine see students as customers,” Tasneem El-Qetawi said that Palestinian university students have faced financial difficulties in completing their education. “Palestinian universities are a part of society. They should support people suffering from the economic crisis.” Whenever she sees her university, she feels sad, “If someone had supported me, I wouldn’t have left the university.”

She wants to realize her dream

22-year-old Sarah Al-Saeed studies dentistry at the university but she is afraid of leaving her education due to the economic crisis. “Studying dentistry in Gaza is very hard. Students have to buy the materials, if they don’t bring the materials with them, the university administration doesn’t allow students to enter the university,” said Sarah Al-Saeed, who has a poor family. But she doesn’t give up her dream and wants to realize her dream and be a dentist.
