Kobani — The Star Congress in the city of Kobani, Rojava, condemned what it described as attempts at incitement targeting the Kurdish people and stirring discord among the components of Syrian society, affirming its rejection of any rhetoric that promotes hatred or seeks to undermine civil peace.

This came during a statement issued by the Star Congress today, Wednesday, July 29, at Freedom Square in the city of Kobani, attended by dozens of women and members of women's organizations, alongside representatives of political and social bodies. The statement was read by Nadia Hassou, a member of the Star Congress coordination body, who emphasized the necessity of confronting all attempts aimed at distorting the image of Kurdish women or sowing discord among the Syrian people.

The statement affirmed that incitement campaigns among Syrian components constitute a direct threat to social peace, warning of the danger of rhetoric that fuels divisions and negatively affects the state of stability and coexistence in the region. It referred to the participation of a person named Rami Al-Dahash in what it described as incitement campaigns against the Kurdish people, accusing him of appearing in circulated video clips containing inciteful rhetoric.

The statement included accusations against Rami Al-Dahash of previously being involved in violations against Kurdish women fighters, referring to an incident that the Star Congress said occurred during the attacks carried out by the jihadists of Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham on the city of Raqqa in late January of last year. It considered that these incidents reflect, according to the statement, the dangers that Syrian women and various components may face if hate speech and incitement continue.

The Star Congress noted that the continuation of these practices coincides with an integration phase that is supposed to be based on guaranteeing the rights of all Syrian components and strengthening coexistence among them, considering that overlooking inciteful rhetoric could negatively impact this path and threaten opportunities for achieving stability.

In concluding its statement, the Star Congress called for legal measures to be taken against all those who incite hatred or work to fuel discord among Syrians, demanding that the interim government assume its responsibilities and take practical steps to prevent any practices that would undermine the security and stability of the region, thereby contributing to the protection of social peace and the reinforcement of coexistence and mutual respect among the various components of Syrian society.
