Social media campaign for Afghan women

Social media users have launched a campaign to support women in Afghanistan with the hashtag #StandwithwomeninAfghanistan.

News Center- Social media users have posted photos to draw attention to the increasing pressure on Afghan activist women since the Taliban took the control of Afghanistan.

The social media users write “Stand with women in Afghanistan” in their hands and post photos of their hands on their social media accounts. Many people all around the world have posted photos on their social media accounts to support Afghan women.

Mursal Ali, one of the campaigners, reported that they have built a website for the campaign.

Prominent Afghan filmmaker Sahraa Karimi is one of the women who participated in the campaign. “Taliban are anti-culture, anti-cinema, anti-democracy. They have killed thousands of people in the name of religion. Please do not recognize the Taliban regime,” she said at the Goya 2022 Awards ceremony.
