Sit-in protest for justice enters its 365 days

Riha- The sit-in protest held in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed in the attack carried out on June 14, 2018, in Suruç by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who survived the attack, has entered its 365th day. The Şenyaşar family began to hold their sit-in protest on March 9, 2021. Today, Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar came to the “Şenyaşar family justice corner” in front of the Urfa courthouse in the morning to keep holding their protest. They held a banner reading, “They killed my husband and two sons! There is not a single arrestee. One of my sons has been held in solitary confinement for four years by the orders of superiors. I demand the immediate release of my son. Justice for the Şenyaşar family, justice for everyone.”

“We will keep holding our protest until justice is delivered”

Stating that their sit-in protest for justice continues under persecution, Emine Şenyaşar said, “All we want is justice. We demand justice for everyone. All the mothers, whose hearts burn, should rise up. We faced obstacles for a year, but we did not give up and we will keep holding our protest until justice is delivered.”

A statement will be made

On the anniversary of the family’s sit-in protest, human rights defenders, the representatives of NGOs, and political parties are expected to visit the family throughout the day. The family will make a statement in front of the courthouse at 12:00.
