Riha – The sit-in protest staged in front of Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar whose husband and two sons were killed in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız on June 14, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who survived the attack, has entered its 240th day. Yesterday, the Şenyaşar family held their protest in the dooryard of the Urfa courthouse to demand justice for their killed relatives.

“Stop this cruelty”

Speaking about their protest at the entrance of the courthouse, Ferit Şenyaşar said: “We have been here for eight months. My mother's health problems are increasing. What my mother has gone through is a test of humanity for everyone. Someone should stop this injustice practice. The winter is coming. My mother cannot stand against this cruelty anymore. If we, as a society, raise our voices, this cruelty will end. Our banners are legal but the police don’t give us back. We have demanded them back for 40 days but our banners haven’t been given to us. I am calling on MPs, who lost their humanity; this is a test for you, stop to this cruelty.”

After the speech of Ferit Şenyaşar, the family members entered the dooryard of the courthouse. But they were told that no one could wait in the dooryard of the courthouse. The Şenyaşar family resisted holding their sit-in protest in the dooryard of the courthouse.
