Sit-in protest for justice enters its 170th day

Şenyaşar family has waited for a response or statement regarding their demand for justice for 170 days.

Riha- Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in the Suruç district of Urfa province just before the general elections held in Turkey on June 24, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who survived the attack, have held a sit-in protest in front of the Urfa Courthouse demanding justice for 170 days.

On the 170th day of their protest, the family received no response for their demand to meet the prosecutor. Yesterday, the family waited for a response from the prosecutor for 10 hours. “We waited for 10 minutes meeting with the prosecutor or the chief prosecutor for 10 hours but we couldn’t meet them. Whenever our lawyers or the head of the bar association want to meet with the prosecutor, the prosecutor finds an excuse, ‘the prosecutor is busy, the prosecutor has a meeting’. Three people were killed and this crime is a crime against humanity. But the prosecutor doesn’t have 10 minutes to meet us about this crime,” Ferit Şenyaşar said.
