At least seven people, including two children, have died after a migrant boat sank in the Aegean, off the island of Lesbos, the Greek Coast Guard said on Thursday.

According to the Greek Coast Guard, At least 23 people have been rescued, transferred to a hospital while a search and rescue operation is still ongoing.
The total number of people on the boat or their nationalities is still unknown.
More than 2,200 people either died or went missing in the Mediterranean while trying to reach Europe in search of refuge in 2024, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
