Semi-Annual Report Documents the Killing of 276 Women and Children in Syria

News Center — Waves of violence and violations targeting women and children continue in Syria, amid an alarming rise in killings and the direct targeting of the most vulnerable groups, reflecting the continued deterioration of the humanitarian situation and the expanding circle of risks threatening civilians in various areas.
In its semi-annual report on the continued exposure of women and children in Syria to acts of violence, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights revealed yesterday, Friday, July 3, an escalation in violations affecting the most vulnerable groups, noting that the first half of this year witnessed the killing of 276 women and children as a result of ongoing violence.
The Observatory explained that its documentation collected during the period from the beginning of January to the end of June shows the killing of 92 women and 184 children, reflecting the continued targeting of civilians in various Syrian regions.
The report indicated that January was the deadliest month, witnessing the killing of dozens of women and children, recording the highest toll among the first six months of the year.
