News Center- Sarvenaz Ahmadi, a children’s rights activist imprisoned in Evin prison, has ended her medication strike, her mother announced on Sunday.

In an Instagram post, her mother said that her daughter ended her medication strike on the 30th day of her strike  after receiving an approval of her request for medical leave and that her daughter would start her strike again if she was not released from prison for medical leave.

Sarvenaz Ahmadi, who suffers from neurological and psychological issues, started her medication strike on September 7 in protest against the denial of her request for medical leave.

Sarvenaz Ahmadi was sentenced to five years in prison by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court on charges of “assembly and collusion with the intent to disrupt national security” and one year for “propaganda against the regime”. Then, her prison sentence was reduced to three years and six months by Branch 36 of the Tehran Court of Appeals.

She was arrested on April 28, 2023, ahead of International Workers’ Day, along with several labor and union activists and transferred to Evin prison to serve her prison sentence.
