Qamishlo- Since January 13, 2024, the Turkish state has intensified its attacks targeting civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, health centers, power and water stations, in North and East Syria. In an interview with NuJINHA, Remziye Mihemed, coordinating member of Kongra Star, evaluated the ongoing attacks.

 The Turkish state has carried out genocidal attacks on North and East Syria, Remziye Mihemed emphasized. “The Turkish state run by the AKP-MHP government has been recently carrying out serious attacks in North and East Syria. These attacks target civilians and civilian infrastructure.”

‘The attacks have been intensified’

Highlighting that the system of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) is targeted by the attacks, Remziye Mihemed said, “This system was created out of nothing. The AANES is a balance between people and the system. The attacks on people have been intensified and the threat is growing. Since the system of the AANES does not serve the interests of the nation-states, it is attacked.”

Recalling the defeat of the Turkish state in Medya Defense Areas in Southern Kurdistan, Remziye Mihemed said:

“The Turkish state has intensified its attacks targeting civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, health centers, power and water stations, in North and East Syria. There are many reasons for these attacks. While people grow their resistance against the attacks against the intensified Turkish attacks on North and East Syria, there is a great resistance in Medya Defense Areas. The Turkish state was defeated in Medya defense areas and now it wants to take revenge for its defeat by attacking North and East Syria. The aim of the attacks is to depopulate the region and destroy the system based on democracy.”

 Mentioning the resistance of the people of North and East Syria against the Turkish attacks, she said, “The resistance of people across North and East Syria is the source of pride.” Remziye Mihemed also said that Russia and the USA supported the Turkish state by remaining silent against the attacks.

 “As Kongra Star, we will grow our struggle to the end on behalf of all women in North and East Syria. We will say ‘no’ to threats. The revolution led by women will definitely prevail. We will defend our land so that our people will live in peace in their own homeland. We will prevail by chanting the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi slogan.”
