Program of TJA and HDP Women’s Council for IWD

The Free Women’s Movement (TJA) and the HDP Women’s Council have announced their program for the International Women’s Day.

News Center- The Free Women’s Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Jinên Azad –TJA) and the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Women’s Council have announced their program for the International Women’s Day on March 8. This year, meetings will be held in 11 cities affected by the deadly earthquakes that struck Turkey, Kurdistan and Syria on February 6. The TJA started its activities for the International Women’s Day on February 25 and the HDP Women’s Council started its activities on February 26 with the motto, “Women’s solidarity keeps alive”. On March 8, the members of the TJA and HDP Women’s Council will go to the cities affected by the earthquakes from the Aegean region, the Marmara region, the Central Anatolia Region, the Serhat region and the Amed region by loading purple trucks carrying aid supplies for women. They will organize meetings with women living in Hatay, Dîlok (Turkish: Antep), Maraş, Semsûr (Turkish: Adıyaman), Meletî (Turkish: Malatya), Adana, Amed (Turkish: Diyarbakır) and Osmaniye.

The program of the TJA and HDP Women’s Council is as follows:

·         On March 1, the start of activities in Şırnak to mark the International Women’s Day.

·         On March 1, the members of the TJA, HDP MPs Dilan Dirayet Taşdemir, Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit and Şevin Coşkun will go to Malatya after gathering in the Serhat region.

·         On March 3, women from the Aegean region, the members of the TJA and HDP MPs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Serpil Kemalbay will be in Hatay to be in solidarity with women affected by the earthquakes.

·         On March 4, HDP Co-chair Pervin Buldan, HDP Women’s Council Spokesperson Ayşe Acar Başaran, female members of the HDP and other left political parties will be in Hatay.

·         On March 4, women from the Central Anatolia Region, the members of the TJA, HDP Group Deputy Chair Meral Danış Beştaş, HDP MPs Filiz Kerestecioğlu and Muazzez Orhan will be in Dîlok.

·         On March 6, women from the Marmara region, HDP MPs Oya Ersoy, Hüda Kaya, Züleyha Gülüm and Dilşat Canbaz will be in Maraş.

·         The members of the TJA and HDP MP Feleknas Uca will go to Semsûr from Êlih (Turkish: Batman) on March 1; many women, the members of the TJA and HDP MPs Dersim Dağ and Remziye Tosun will go to Semsûr from Amed on March 3; many women, the members of the TJA and HDP MP Nuran İmir will go to Semsûr from Siirt on March 5 and many women and HDP Spokesperson Ebru Günay and HDP MP Pero Dündar will go to Semsûr from Mêrdîn (Turkish: Mardin) on March 4.

·         The TJA will also hold marches in Wan, Êlih, Sêrt, Şirnex and Mêrdîn on March 8. In addition, the TJA and HDP Women’s Council will release statements with the participation of the members of women’s platforms to mark the International Women’s Day.
