News Center_ Political prisoner Mahboubeh Shabani, arrested in connection with the protests that Iran witnessed early this year, has begun a hunger strike in protest against inadequate detention conditions in the quarantine wing of Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.
She was transferred to the quarantine wing as a punitive measure and subjected to violent treatment during the transfer, while the unhealthy environment inside the quarantine caused her to develop a skin disease, according to reports.
Mahboubeh Shabani was arrested in Mashhad and held in solitary confinement for a long period before being transferred to the women’s wing. The indictment alleges that she transported wounded protesters to medical centers on her motorcyele during the demonstration, while the charge of “waging war” was dropped from the final version of the indictment weeks ago.
